SINODUN Players will be putting on their dancing shoes and showing off some nifty footwork in Richard Harris’ tap dancing comedy drama Stepping Out, writes Carol Evans.
The feelgood award winning play revolves around eight wannabe hoofers who attend a weekly tap dancing class in a dingy church hall in Eighties’ north London.
Alarmingly, just as they are picking up the basics, they learn they are to perform at a charity gala.
At first, the seven women and one gauche male use the classes more for gossip and a laugh but as the big day draws near, their uncoordinated attempts at dancing become more skilful.
It also becomes evident that everyone in the group, including their teacher, ex-pro Mavis, carries some emotional baggage. However, group camaraderie plus the challenge of the upcoming show help them face their personal demons.
