Chef’s not impressed

A VERY different impression of Henley was left on Daniel Clifford, the Michelin-starred chef who ran his pop-up Riverside Restaurant at the Henley Festival

A VERY different impression of Henley was left on Daniel Clifford, the Michelin-starred chef who ran his pop-up Riverside Restaurant at the Henley Festival.

He told Waitrose Weekend magazine that part of the reason he agreed to come was because he is an Elton John fan and was promised that he would meet the star when he performed on the opening night.

Of the town itself, Clifford said: “Henley’s biggest challenge is that there’s one road in and one road out. After 10.30am, it’s basically blocked and you can’t get out until 1.30am-2am.”

After that put down, I’m glad I ate at Paul Clerehugh’s Crooked Billet riverside pop-up restaurant at the festival.
