Poignant silence broken by buzzing phone

WITHIN seconds of a minute’s silence being observed at a meeting of Henley Town Council, a mobile phone started buzzing. Its red-faced owner was Councillor Sam Evans who swiftly lifted the device from the table to stop the call. It turns out that putting a phone on “silent” is not enough when no one else is making a sound. Perhaps switching it off during council meetings would be more appropriate.
