Holiday mood at town hall

PERHAPS it’s due to the summer holidays, but Henley town councillors appear to be in a jolly mood these days.

Sam Evans could hardly contain herself when the parks sub-committee heard about the prospect of Eighties film classic Footloose being screened at this year’s Regal by the River open air-cinema.

“Get those ankle warmers out and a bit of bling and go back to the Eighties,” she exclaimed.

Perhaps better not tell her about Rewind coming this weekend...

Meanwhile, Councillor David Nimmo Smith was equally jovial when the sub-committee heard about the River & Rowing Museum’s nomination for a Family Friendly Museum Award.

David Bancroft, head of museum operations, said the other contenders included the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Swansea.

Councillor Nimmo Smith responded: “I didn’t know the Egyptians went to Swansea.” Boom, boom!
