Nursery set to expand

A CHILDREN’s nursery at RAF Benson could be extended to accommodate its breakfast and after-school club.

A CHILDREN’s nursery at RAF Benson could be extended to accommodate its breakfast and after-school club.

Plans for the single-storey addition have been submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council, the planning authority.

The floorspace at the Clay Lane nursery would increase by 120 sq m.

A design and access statement says: “The existing nursery is running an out-of-school club for before and after school. This is done without adequate provision, so there is a requirement for a separate area for this.”

The statement says the extension would be self-serving with its own entrance, toilets and a kitchenette that would link to the existing kitchen.

The extension would link to the existing building via the existing fire exit.

There would be separate toilets for boys and girls and an additional toilet for the use of the staff.

The nursery would take on four extra staff.

The district council is due to make a decision by August 3.
