‘Joyful’ school that’s setting its sights high

“A JOYFUL place.” That is how one of the students described our school to the inspectors during its recent Ofsted inspection.

Gillotts is a high-performing, innovative school where every student is valued as an individual, and is supported and encouraged to achieve their potential.

We pride ourselves on being inclusive of all, developing academic achievers and individuals who make a positive contribution to society now and in their future lives.

In our inspection in April, the school retained its “Good” judgement. The inspectors recognised that standards have risen because the quality of teaching and learning has continued to improve.

In 2015, the overall progress made by students placed the school in the top 25 per cent in the country. The inspectors recognised that many of the most able students gained the highest grades in the majority of subjects.

Parents told inspectors of “the happy atmosphere” in the school and said “teachers really care for the students”.

This year 84 per cent of students have achieved the benchmark of five or more passes at grade C and above, including English and mathematics — our best set of results ever, beating the previous best result of 82 per cent in 2014. Our ambition is to improve the school further so it becomes one of the most successful schools in the country.

Gillotts is a popular school but vacancies do arise when families move out of the area. Contact the school to find out more or arrange a visit.
