Little Dahlings

Children at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Henley enjoyed a picnic themed around Roald Dahl

Children at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Henley enjoyed a picnic themed around Roald Dahl to celebrate what would have been the author’s 100th birthday. They dressed as some of his most famous characters including Matilda, Fantastic Mr Fox and Charlie, Willy Wonka and the Oompa-Loompas from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. bEach year made different snacks and drinks, including gingerbread men shaped like the Big Friendly Giant and George’s Marvellous Medicine from the book of the same name. The children are currently studying these books as well as The Witches, The Twits and The Enormous Crocodile and have also visited the Regal Picturehouse cinema in Henley to watch the new film adaptation of The BFG. Assistant headteacher Nicola Edwards said: “The children enjoyed it very much. Looking at some of the outfits, they really got into the spirit of things.”
