GILLOTTS is a high performing school, committed to innovation and development.
Students make very good progress and achieve high academic standards as a consequence of the commitment and professionalism of staff, and of the quality of the overall school experience. Achievement is celebrated in the widest sense and everyone is seen as an individual, capable of growth, change and development.
Gillotts seeks to communicate the joy of learning, fostering creativity, a spirit of enquiry, and an independence of mind. Students and staff form a happy and caring community which takes pride in personal excellence in all spheres. Working in partnership with parents, young people are supported to become lifelong learners as well as happy, effective and responsible citizens, equipped with the skills for life and for work. The school is proud of the success it achieves together and strives to reach new heights.
When Ofsted last inspected, they judged Gillotts to be a good school in every respect. Standards continue to rise due to ongoing improvements in the quality of teaching and leadership.
The school’s motto, “non nobis solum” (not by ourselves alone), lives strongly in students’ good behaviour, their commitment to one another and eagerness to achieve highly together. These findings were backed up by the 2014 GCSE results, which are the school’s best ever. This year, 81 per cent of students have achieved the benchmark of five or more passes at grade C and above, including English and mathematics. This is a significant increase from their previous best ever result of 72 per cent.
