MEP backs new school

JAMES ELLES, Conservative MEP for the South-East, is backing the new Caversham Heights Primary School.

The school, which is funded by a £220,000 government grant, is due to open in September and will be run by a body of governors.

It will begin with two reception classes of about 25 pupils each but hopes to add two new reception classes each year, with the aim of reaching full capacity of 350 pupils by 2020.

Mr Elles, who lives near Henley, said he was aware of the shortage of primary school places in the area.

In letter to Ruth Rosewell, director of the Heights Primary School Academy Trust, he said: “An additional primary school for Caversham Heights has long been overdue.
