School starts to grow with new classroom

A NEW classroom at Badgemore Primary School in Henley has been officially opened.

Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak cut a ribbon with the help of pupils to mark the occasion.

The £700,000 extension includes a kitchen, wet play area and toilets. The outside is clad in cedar to reflect the surrounding woodland.

Councillor Gawrysiak said: “I came to this school 33 years ago with lights and a sound system for their nativity and I have always looked on it with fondness. This is a wonderful new classroom.” The extension is part of a £2.3 million project to double Badgemore’s capacity from just over 100 pupils to 210.

Over the next year the main hall, entrance area, kitchen and staff room will be refurbished. The hall and kitchen will then be available to hire for community events.
