GCSE pupils rewarded for achievement and effort

A PRESENTATION evening was held at Chiltern Edge School in Sonning Common to celebrate pupils’ success in their GCSEs.

Cups and prizes were awarded to the youngsters for outstanding achievement.

The special guests at the ceremony were two Olympic rowers — Alex Gregory, from Nettlebed, who won a gold medal in the coxless fours at London 2012, and former Chiltern Edge pupil Sam Townsend, who lives in Reading.

Headteacher Daniel Sadler said: “They gave an inspirational talk about their careers in British rowing and the difficulties they overcame to achieve success in the last 10 years.

“Sam and Alex stayed at the end of the talk so that students could have their pictures taken with Alex’s medal and they were very generous with their time.”
