School loses ‘outstanding’ rating

THE Piggott School in Wargrave has been rated “good” by Ofsted.

The secondary school in Twyford Road was inspected in January and received a good rating for pupil achievement, quality of teaching and leadership, while the behaviour of students was ranked as outstanding.

The inspectors’ report said teachers were enthusiastic and knowledgable and noted that exam results were above the national average.

The report included the newly built Charvil Primary School in Park Lane, Charvil, which opened in September and is run by the secondary school. Inspectors said children in the school’s reception class were “settling, happy and learning well”.

The Piggott School was rated outstanding after its last inspection in 2010.
