Suez victim remembered

CADETS from the Oratory School in Woodcote held a service of remembrance for a former pupil who died during the Suez crisis.

Peter McCarthy, who attended the school from 1950 to 1955, was killed in action at Port Said on November 6, 1956. He was 19.

A plaque was unveiled at the spot where a tree was once planted in Peter’s honour in the school’s garden of remembrance.

The combined cadet force provided a guard of honour and pupils Callum Walsh and Charlie Dart played the Last Post and Reveille.
