Independent schools buck national trend for results

THE Oratory School in Woodcote was one of a number of independent schools in South Oxforshire and Berkshire which recorded impressive GCSE results.

Eight-five per cent of pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades, including English and maths, for the second year running.

Thirty-five per cent scored A* or A grades, while 63 per cent achieved A* to B grades and 85 per cent scored A* to C grades.

The top performers were George Tyler with 12 A*s, Cameron McLean with 10 A*s and two A grades, Theo Toaldo with 10 A*s and one A grade and Rory Baxter with nine A*s and one A grade.

Henry Lale, 16, of Belle Vue Road, Henley, achieved five A*s, two As and four Bs.
