Pupils net digital prize

Pupils at Chiltern Edge School in Sonning Common were the winners of the overall annual Microsoft DigiGirlz competition for schools.

Pupils at Chiltern Edge School in Sonning Common were the winners of the overall annual Microsoft DigiGirlz competition for schools.

Eight year nine girls spent a day at the software company in Reading offices designing and launching an advertising campaign for a new app. They claimed topspot ahead of 20 other schools.

The DigiGirlz organiser said: “I’m really glad that DigiGirlz has got you thinking about your career. Women are under-represented in the technology sector”

“What I find particularly exciting is that the job you’ll end up doing may not even exist yet!”

DigiGirlz is a Microsoft programme that is designed to provide high school girls with a better understanding of what a career in technology is all about.
