Primary improves

LEWKNOR Primary School has been named one of the top 10 most improved schools in Oxfordshire.

LEWKNOR Primary School has been named one of the top 10 most improved schools in Oxfordshire.

The list is based on the county’s key stage two results. At the Lewknor school, the percentage of pupils achieving level four in this year’s English and maths KS2 exams was 91 per cent, 48 per cent higher than last year.

Headteacher Bernadette Morgan said: “We spent time getting our staffing right last year and we now have a very strong teaching and support team.

“We spent a lot of time focusing on children’s personal needs and making sure they all had access to the curriculum and I think that made the difference.”

About 70 children aged four to 11 attend the primary, which has been rated “good” by Ofsted.
