SINGER Rebecca Poole visited The Henley College to rehearse with students ahead of her show at the Kenton Theatre next week.
Miss Poole, from Nettlebed, will be performing in To Remind Us on Thursday, when she will be supported by backing singers and a brass band from the college. The jazz concert, which is sponsored by the Standard, will include solo performances from some of the 35 students.
Miss Poole, who used to attend the college, was inspired by Vera Lynn’s wartime song We’ll Meet Again. She said: “The theme for this concert is all about remembering our loved ones and about music that really makes us feel. I’ve asked the students to think of something or someone very important in their lives because the show is all about using music to remember.
She praised the students, saying: “I’m really surprised by the calibre of musicianship. They are bang on the harmonies and the brass players are really up to standard, so I’m really excited about having them in the band. I get free musicians and a free big band — what more could a girl want?
“It’s going to be a big sound with lots of big voices so the audience can prepare to have their skin tingled.”
