DEREK MACKEY, who is director of studies at Shiplake College, has been appointed headmaster of the British International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.The school, which was founded four years ago, has 600 pupils but operates on a British education model with small class sizes. Mr Mackey has taught Geography at Shiplake since September 2009 and coaches cricket and soccer.

He will take charge in September.

He said: “I am looking forward to the challenge of overseeing the expansion of the school and also of not having to dig my car out of the snow!”
