A thrilling end to cricket tournament

SHIPLAKE College hosted the fourth annual indoor cricket tournament for local schools in association with Performance Cricket last weekend.

SHIPLAKE College hosted the fourth annual indoor cricket tournament for local schools in association with Performance Cricket last weekend.

Three teams took part in the round robin format of matches including Churchend Primary Academy (Reading), St Edward’s Prep School (Reading) and a Year 7 team from Shiplake College. The six-a-side format with teams batting in pairs ensured maximum participation for batting, bowling and fielding. Each team played each other twice. Many of the games came down to a thrilling last over, even last-ball-finish.

Shiplake College’s cricket scholar, Matt Dalrymple, led the way being player of the tournament with fine batting and bowling performances throughout. Shiplake College managed to win all four of their matches with St Edward’s winning two matches. A tremendous morning of cricket was summarised by Shiplake College’s head cricket coaching professional, Chris Ellison: “Each year the standard improves as shown by the tight finishes in many of the matches. To all the boys taking part huge congratulations with best wishes for your summer season.”

Shiplake College will be hosting an open invitation Kwik Cricket Festival on Friday, June 14 for local primary schools in the area. For details contact Chris Ellison by emailing chris@performance-cricket.com
