330 runners join second Highdown Dash

ABOUT 330 people aged two to 76 took part in the second Highdown Dash on Sunday.

ABOUT 330 people aged two to 76 took part in the second Highdown Dash on Sunday.

There were two routes of 2km and 6km, which both started and ended in the playing fields of the Emmer Green school, and runners were chip-timed.

The shorter race was won by 15-year-old Zac Dellow in a time of seven minutes and seven seconds. Seb Briggs, 36, won the 6km race in a time of 22 minutes and 39 seconds.

Race organiser Sue Bryant said: “I think word had got round about the event and the weather was fine, which together made it a success.

“There were three generations of one family taking part, which is lovely as that is what the race is all about.” Mrs Bryant was inspired by the London Olympics to organise the inaugural Dash last year and now hopes to make it an annual fixture.

The event is not-for-profit and any money left over will go towards the cost of next year’s event. For more information, visit www.highdowndash.co.uk
