39th year of exchanges

PUPILS from Chiltern Edge School in Sonning Common took part in a German exchange trip.

PUPILS from Chiltern Edge School in Sonning Common took part in a German exchange trip.

They spent 12 days touring towns including Bayreuth, Bamberg, Munich and Nuremberg as well as the countryside of the Fräenkische Schweiz.

The youngsters then hosted pupils from Gesamtschule Hollfeld, in northern Bavaria, who canoed on the Thames in Henley, took part in the Reading history trail, visited London and Oxford and carried out an orienteering exercise in the countryside.

It is the 39th year of the exchange partnership. Marion Shipton, head of German at Chiltern Edge, said: “This exchange is a fantastic experience for the youngsters not only to improve their language skills but also to get to know the culture of another country and experience day-to-day life with a family.”
