IT has been another busy year and the Fledgling Youth Dance Company based in Reading is looking to recruit new dancers, as inevitably some of its fledglings are fleeing the nest.

The company’s raison d’être is to provide performing opportunities for its members and 2012/13 was an especially busy and rewarding year.

One of the highlights of the year was participating in the Mardi Gras competition at Sadler’s Wells.

This provided the young dancer with a wonderful opportunity to perform at one of the world’s most prestigious dance venues. It’s an experience they will never forget.

Other events included Angelina Ballerina Dancing On Ice at the Abbey School in Reading, Wargrave Theatre Workshop’s production of Dick Whittington, the Lift Off Gala at South Hill Park and Wargrave Festival’s Carry On Strictly Dancing.

The most recent event was the Madelaine Kelly School of Dancing’s biennial school show, Let’s Dance.

Plans for next year include a newly-commissioned work for Fledgling Youth Dance Company which will be performed at Bearwood Theatre at the end of July.

Membership of the company is open to enthusiastic dancers aged 12 to 20 years.

Auditions for new members are being held next Wednesday, September 25.
