Grand visitors for young poets

CHILDREN at Sonning Common Primary School wrote poetry with their grandparents.

CHILDREN at Sonning Common Primary School wrote poetry with their grandparents.

More than 300 grandparents visited the school across four afternoons to co-write and illustrate poems, which will be made into a book.

Deputy head Rachel Salmons said: “A lot of grandparents are not closely involved with the children’s school life so this gives them an opportunity to come in and do something creative with them. All the work they have produced is really precious and hopefully it will be building good memories for the children.”

The poems will be put on display at the school.
