THE proportion of GCSE students in Oxfordshire achieving at least five A* to C grades, including English and maths, reached its highest ever level this year.

New government figures show that 60.3 per cent of students who received their results in August attained the benchmark, up 2.4 percentage points on last year and the biggest margin of improvement since 2010. The national average is 60.4 per cent.
