Poet is toast of students

PERFORMANCE poet Adisa visited year nine students at Icknield Community College in Watlington to mark national poetry day.

PERFORMANCE poet Adisa visited year nine students at Icknield Community College in Watlington to mark national poetry day.

He entertained students with a one-hour performance of his blend of poetry and toasting, a type of lyrical chanting.

Students were then given the opportunity to complete a rap poem which the poet had begun with the words “I wanna be your...”

Poems by Louis Robinson and Connor Daly were judged to be the best and both boys were given signed copies of Adisa’s poetry anthology Lip Hopping With The Fundi-Fu as a prize.

Librarian Penny Didcock said: “Adisa is a very modern poet and he helped show the children that poetry isn’t boring and old-fashioned.”
