Pupils’ choral concert

CHILDREN from three Henley schools are to perform a choral concert on Wednesday.

The year 4 pupils from Badgemore, Trinity and Valley Road primaries will sing a mix of modern and traditional numbers at the Christ Church Centre in Reading Road.

The highlight will be an ensemble performance of Sir Benjamin Britten’s Friday Afternoons, a set of 12 songs he wrote in the early Thirties.

A group from each school will also sing a piece of their own choosing. The concert is funded by the Henley Educational Trust, which paid for professional coaching for the children.

The youngsters rehearsed once a week with Voces Cantabiles Music, whose leader Charles MacDougall grew up in Fawley and attended the Oratory School in Woodcote.

Mr MacDougall is also a member of an a cappella quintet called Apollo 5, who will perform jazz, pop and classical songs at the concert.

The evening starts at 7pm and admission is free.
