REDROOFS’ expertise and knowledge spans six decades and the staff are proud to be the leading performing arts school in the area offering the best training, the best teachers and a friendly approach for all.
Redroofs has something for everyone. Whether you take part in inspiring weekly evening or Saturday classes for a hobby, aiming to build confidence, or wish to train for a career in the performing arts, Redroofs pupils receive the finest teaching.
Established in 1947 the school has a full time co-ed day school for years 5 to 13, a thriving part-time department, two fully-equipped theatres and a busy and successful agency.
Redroofs full time co-ed day school — this is for pupils in years 5 to 13 and provides a first-class performing arts training in musical theatre, dance and acting together with a solid academic education.
Pupils thrive in Redroofs’ supportive and friendly atmosphere and each pupil’s potential is nurtured with encouragement and expertise in ability-streamed vocational classes and small academic year groups.
Upper school pupils opt to specialise in acting and media or dance and there is extensive musical theatre training for all. Most pupils sit eight or nine GCSEs with good results and dance grades are among the highest in the UK.
Redroofs BTEC sixth Form — this combines cutting edge training with leading theatre professionals with a level three BTEC in musical theatre performing arts and a DDI/ISTD dance teacher’s qualification.
Their aspiring performers are equipped with the qualifications necessary for dance/drama college or university entry at 18 or to embark on a career in performing or related careers.
Redroofs part time department — in their own two exceptional buildings in central Maidenhead, pupils enjoy cheerful state-of-the-art studios with sprung floors and floor-to-ceiling mirrors.
The studio walls are covered with pictures of past and current pupils now performing on the West End stage or big screen — it is inspirational for young people to share the Redroofs training with the industry’s finest talent.
The delightful 160-seat theatre provides performance space for their many school shows and Saturday onstage Novello theatre school, while at the historic Littlewick venue children enjoy term-time and holiday courses with shows on stage in their second 42-seat theatre and enjoy summer swimming in the heated pool.
Redroofs agency — over the past year professional credits through the agency includes West End productions of Matilda, The Sound Of Music, Shrek and Oliver!
Pupils have gained parts in regular TV soaps and TV series including Death Comes To Pemberley and EastEnders, and feature films including Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie and Nativity 3, as well as commercials and recordings.
The agency offers representation for all Redroofs pupils with the chance to appear on TV, in films and commercials.
