PUPILS at Langtree School in Woodcote have recycled 634kg of unwanted clothing as part of an environmental campaign.

The secondary in Reading Road has been taking part in the national Science Into Schools initiative for the past two years.

Students donate textiles to be recycled and in exchange earn credits which can be used to buy science equipment for the school.

So far they have bought more than £250 worth of equipment and prevented 3.87 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being produced.

Teacher Cindy Thatcher said: “By joining the scheme we have the opportunity to teach our students about the importance of reducing, re-using and recycling.”
