Celebrating every pupil's gifts

Hemdean House provides affordable, independent education within a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Hemdean House provides affordable, independent education within a friendly and supportive learning environment. We have class sizes of approximately 16 boys and girls in the junior school and 12 girls in the senior school.

We place great emphasis on pastoral care: we seek to identify, nurture and celebrate every pupil's gifts and talents. We develop an active partnership with parents, recognising that only a full understanding of their child's personality and interests will allow us to make learning a true adventure.

We get to know each one of our girls and boys and they in turn know they have a real contribution to make to our school community.

Their confidence grows with support and nurturing from our dedicated and experienced teaching staff.

Many of our pupils achieve Level 5 or 6 in English and Maths at the end of Year 6 and gain places at their first choice of senior school, including successful admissions to Kendrick and Reading Schools.

At GCSE level our results continue to be excellent: this year 71 per cent of GCSE grades were A* to C, including English and Maths.

All our students achieved the required grades to study at their first-choice sixth forms.

Pupils leave Hemdean House as confident, respectful and self-motivated students - ready for the next stage of their education.
