Site "with most potential"

JOHN POPPLEWELL, who lives in Caversham, is campaigning for the school to be built on Mapledurham playing fields because he says the site has the most potential for providing ideal facilities for primary schoolchildren.

He says: "It meets all the Education Funding Agency's criteria, including that the costs must be in line with or less than the original costs to deliver High Ridge and that the site must be acceptable to the school while its temporary site remains available.

"There is ample space at the playing fields to build a school while retaining all existing recreational facilities for public use.

"At all the sites drop-off and pick-up provision would be a prime concern for local residents. The Mapledurham site â?? alone among the four originally suggested â?? could provide adequate provision on Reading Borough Council land without congestion on residential roads.

"It would be advantageous if the community could now come together to recommend a preferred site so that this can be speedily developed without further delay."
