Harpsden pre-school achieves highest rating

HARPSDEN Pre-School has been rated ?outstanding? by Ofsted

HARPSDEN Pre-School has been rated ?outstanding? by Ofsted.

This is the highest possible rating possible and an improvement on its previous ?good? rating awarded in March 2011.

The pre-school, which is based at Harpsden village hall, was inspected on April 30. Inspector Natasha Crellin noted the ?strong links? between the children and staff, the ?well-planned and highly focused learning? and the ?exceptional? progress in all areas of learning.

She said: ?Staff have an excellent understanding of how to develop and extend children?s learning.?

There are now 23 children on the roll but the pre-school admits only 20 children on any one day. To celebrate their achievement, the pupils and staff made blue, green, pink and yellow flags with letters on for a banner spelling out ?outstanding?.

Supervisor Susie Gerhartz said: ?We are absolutely delighted with the result. It acknowledges the progress and achievements of all the children at our setting. We are one of the few pre-schools in the area to be rated outstanding, something that is particularly hard to achieve in our packaway setting. We are immensely proud.?

Rachael Speirs, chairwoman of pre-school committee, said: ?This report is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff.?
