Pupils take part in Rocket Science

PUPILS at Sonning Common Primary School are taking part in a space-linked experiment to grow plants.

Rocket Science is an educational project launched by the Royal Horticultural Society for school gardens.

The Grove Road school will be given a packet of 100 rocket seeds that have been into space and asked to plant them alongside 100 seeds that have never left the earth. The growth of both will then be compared.

The school will only find out which batch is which when the results are collected and analysed by biostatisticians.

In September two kilos of rocket seeds were flown to the International Space Station to spend several months in mircrogravity before returning to earth next month.
