Sonning Common Primary School has won the Oxfordshire Sportshall Athletics competition
Sonning Common Primary School has won the Oxfordshire Sportshall Athletics competition.
A team of 30 students from years five and six beat nine other schools at the event in Oxford. The pupils trained three times a week before school as well as during break times.
The competition focuses on fitness and multiple skills development that provide children with a grounding for all sports.
Boys and girls compete seperately in track and field events, including obstacle relays and standing long jump. Headteacher Chris Hurst said: “It was a well-deserved victory earned by their hard work, determination and a great team effort.” Kidmore End Primary School, which had won the event for the past two years, finished runners-up.
