Year seven and eight pupils from Shiplake College took part in the Junior UK Maths Challenge

Year seven and eight pupils from Shiplake College took part in the Junior UK Maths Challenge against schools from across the UK. The challenge involves answering 25 questions in one hour under exam conditions. Of the Shiplake pupils Anthony Adamson and Jamie Liu achieved a gold award, Kai O&rsquoHare and Jai Angell a silver award and Ben Yeoman a bronze. Pete Muhley, acting head of mathematics, said: “We&rsquove had exceptionally high results and the mathematics department is very pleased with the outcome. All the pupils who took part work very hard in their lessons and it paid off. Congratulations to everyone who participated.” The contest is run by UKMT, a charity whose aim it is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. More 600,000 students from 4,000 schools took part in the contest.
