Donations box stolen from open church

A DONATIONS box has been stolen from Nuffield church.

The wooden box, which was padlocked and screwed to a pew at Holy Trinity Church in Nuffield Hill, was taken on Thursday, January 2.

It contained about £20 which had been donated by visitors towards the upkeep of the building.

Churchwarden John Erbetta said: “Obviously it’s very disappointing. We have had problems with donation boxes in the past so we had a padlock on this one and had screwed it to a pew.

“The thieves broke it off and made off with it. We don’t know exactly how much was in it but fortunately it won’t be a large sum of money.”
