Cleaner is jailed for stealing from clients

A CLEANER who stole more than £5,000 from her elderly clients has been jailed for nine months.

Marcela Perkins spent £4,000 on credit cards belonging to Elizabeth Garnett and Andrew Michael and took almost £1,000 worth of foreign currency from the homes of two other clients.

She used the money to pay her phone bill, for online shopping and even existing court debts, Oxford Magistrates’ Court heard on Tuesday.

She was confronted by two clients who found money missing from drawers and she admitted taking it. Despite this, Mrs Garnett allowed her to continue working for her.

Perkins, 30, of Elvedon Road, Goring, admitted to two counts of fraud and two of theft in 2012 and 2013 as well as possession of a class A drug and failure to answer bail.
