Children urged to fit lights on their bikes

A POLICE community support officer has started a campaign to equip youngsters in Sonning Common with bicycle lights to reduce the risk of an accident.

Colin Boyes believes the village’s roads are too dark for cyclists to navigate without lighs.

He is raising money to buy 25 lights, which will be donated to members of the Club SC youth club at Chiltern Edge School.

Pcso Boyes said: “The village’s roads are dark at the very best of times and the arrival of the long winter nights has only compounded this.

“Patrolling the village, I identified that a large number of children are cycling along the roads without the benefit of any bicycle lights.
