Tackling crime

THE police and crime commissioner for the Thames Valley has backed a new initiative to tackle crime in rural areas.

Anthony Stansfield is one of 18 commissioners across Britain to endorse the National Rural Crime Network, whichwill provide an online resource for police and communities to interact, share information and link up with other groups to report crime and suspicious behaviour.

Mr Stansfield said: “I am confident that effective participation with others and learning about what works well and the best ways of assisting our rural communities can only be of positive benefit.”

The idea originated with the Rural Services Network, a not-for-profit organisation representing rural service providers in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
