Driver smashes through fence at danger junction

A CAR caused hundreds of pounds of damage when the driver swerved to miss a deer and ploughed into a garden fence.

The accident happened at about midnight on Monday last week on the B481 at Bolts Cross, between Peppard and Rotherfield Greys, where residents have been calling for safety measures.

Police said the driver of the Vauxhall tried to avoid the deer and crashed through a hedge and into the fence at Paul Fairweather’s house. The driver was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading but was later released and reported to Henley police station the following morning.

Mr Fairweather’s neighbour Brian Passey said: “He crashed through my hedge into Paul’s brand new fence.

“His wing mirror was hanging from the fence in the morning but it could have been much worse.
