Benefits cheat sent to prison

A MAN from Sonning Common has been jailed after falsely claiming more than £11,000 in benefits.

Russell Kingdon, 65, of Ashford Avenue, pleaded guilty to seven charges of benefit fraud when he appeared at Oxfordshire Magistrates’ Court.

Between October 26, 2009 and September 19, 2011, he claimed £7,849.92 in pension credit, £2,644.65 in housing benefit and £594.23 in council tax benefit.

He failed to notify South Oxfordshire District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions that he had a job and received a work pension and he made a number of false representations to both organisations.

Kingdon also admitted breaching an antisocial behaviour order and committing an offence while on a suspended sentence.
