A WOMAN unwittingly let a man who had attempted to burgle her house to go free.
Police said she spotted a green Renault parked in her driveway in Kit Lane, Checkendon, and blocked it in with her own car.
She was then met by a man who seemed to be in a hurry and claimed he needed water for his vehicle.
She allowed him to fill up a water bottle using an outdoor tap before moving her car so he could drive away.
It was only when she returned home later that she found the window locks on her bathroom window had been damaged by a sharp tool.
The man was in his late twenties, 5ft 8in and slim with light stubble. He wore a blue baseball cap and jeans and glasses with silver frames.
