MYSTERY surrounds the sinking of a boat which led to an emergency alert.
Police, firefighters and paramedics raced to the River Thames near Shiplake at lunchtime on Wednesday after reports of a body floating in the water.
Shiplake lock-keeper Andy Feak raised the alarm after being alerted by a man on a passing narrowboat.
The incident turned out to be a false alarm but there was clothing and other objects coming from a boat that had sunk some time before and was being dredged up.
Firefighters searched the river bank from Shiplake lock to Shiplake College.
