THIS is the moment that a vandal set fire to a flower basket in Sonning Common.
The teenage boy was caught on CCTV during the incident, which happened at the village hall at about 10.30pm on Saturday, September 13.
He was with five other youths at the time and the footage also shows one of the others using a scooter to smash into plants in a separate planter outside the hall in Wood Lane.
The fire was put out by Mohammed Abid, a waiter at the Tandoori Connoisseur restaurant, which is adjacent to the hall, using a bucket of water.
He said: “One of our customers came to me and told me there was a fire at Sonning Common hall in front of the restaurant. She asked me for water, which I gave her, and then asked if I would go with her so I went and threw the water over the fire.” Mr Abid told parish clerk Philip Collings about the incident on the following Monday.
