Raiders hit pub

BURGLARS used a sledge hammer in a raid on a pub.

Police said two men forced the door of the Wee Waif Hotel in Old Bath Road, Charvil, at about 2.45am on Wednesday last week.

They used the sledge hammer to smash open fruit machines and steal the contents. They drove away in a saloon car.

The pub, which is owned by Greene King, is open as normal.
