BURGLARS who raided a house in Goring escaped in the owner’s car before carrying out another break-in.

Police said an Mp3 player, mobile phone, cash, bank cards, a handbag and the keys of the Volvo S40 were stolen from the house in Glebe Ride during the night of December 21.

The raiders broke in through the front door, damaging the frame, but the occupants weren’t woken until the police arrived at 5.30am.

The car was found abandoned in Reading and police believe it was used in a break-in at the Co-op store in Wood Lane, Sonning Common at about 12.30am on the same night. The thieves smashed a window in the front door before escaping with a large quantity of cigarettes.
