Police closed High Street for two hours after the crash, which happened just north of the village centre on the B471 just before 2pm on Friday.

The male driver of the Mazda was taken by ambulance to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading but his injuries were not thought to have been serious.

The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance was called to the scene.

Traffic was diverted along Hardwick Road and on to Goring Heath via Path Hill. Toll on Whitchurch Bridge were suspended and the barriers lifted to help keep traffic flowing.
