Burglars raid shop

BURGLARS stole cigarettes and tried to take cash from the Co-operative store in Benson on Tuesday.

BURGLARS stole cigarettes and tried to take cash from the Co-operative store in Benson on Tuesday.

A member of the public alerted the police at 1.13am after noticing a group of men inside acting suspiciously.

The men had driven up to the premises and broken in through the front door.

The store was closed in the morning while detectives and forensic staff investigated but was re-opened in the afternoon.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
