A FATHER and son have forfeited more than £85,000 seized by police during two drugs raids.

A FATHER and son have forfeited more than £85,000 seized by police during two drugs raids.

Officers found £80,000 in a safe and some cannabis at the home of Richard Thorngate, 55, in Mill Lane, Kidmore End, in October 2010, Reading Magistrates’ Court heard.

More cannabis and £5,500 in cash was found in another raid at the girlfriend of his 30-year-old son Julian’s house in Buckingham Drive, Emmer Green.

Thorngate jnr was sentenced to 28 weeks imprisonment after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply at Reading Crown Court in January. His father was cautioned for possession.

On Tuesday last week, the magistrates granted an application by Thames Valley Police for a forfeiture order on the cash. The men did not oppose the application.
