A TEENAGER has been given a suspended jail sentence for attacking his mother.

A TEENAGER has been given a suspended jail sentence for attacking his mother.

Stefan Cook, 19, of Rosehill Park, Emmer Green, had pleaded guilty to assaulting Paula Cook at her home in Caversham.

Reading Magistrates’ Court heard how he had been had been sniffing lighter fluid. His sister called the police.

On Monday, Cook was sentenced to eight weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months. He was also given a 12-month supervision order ordered to undertake a 19-session diversion programme.

He was also banned from visiting his mother’s home in Almond Drive for three months and ordered to pay a £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
