A DRIVER assaulted a parking attendant who gave him a parking fine.

A DRIVER assaulted a parking attendant who gave him a parking fine.

The driver returned to his truck in Hart Street at about 10am on Wednesday last week to find he was being issued with an excess charge notice.

He argued with the town council attendant and then spat in his face before diving off through a red light and into Bell Street.

He then reversed up the one-way street before driving towards Henley Bridge.

Police are appealing for witnesses. The driver was white, about 25 to 30, 5ft 10in, slim with short dark brown hair. His white Ford flat-bed truck had plywood added to the sides to extend its height. Call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number, 101.

• A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and careless driving and bailed until October 3.
